This advertisement is for the Corona Brewing Company, advertising their Corona Beer. The function of the brand is a delicious beer that is refreshing and enjoyable. I first came across this advertisement when I was watching television at home, and was very drawn to the advertisement after first seeing it. This advertisement is aimed at a very large demographic, males and females over 21 to any age who enjoy beer and enjoy relaxing. The psychographic segmentation is very similar, this target segmentation audience is an audience that enjoys beer, the company of their significant other, and beautiful scenery. All in all, Corona is a brand that promotes relaxation, and this advertisement is targeting people who value a relaxed lifestyle.

However, Corona is not alone as a competitor in the beer industry. Some similar brands that compete with Corona are Coors, Heineken, Budweiser and Miller. These brews are all choices that the consumer must think about and consider before choosing Corona. However, Corona does a great job of marketing itself as the most ‘relaxing’ beer among its competition. In fact, it’s most famous slogan is ‘Relax’. This tag line has differentiated the product from a multitude of similar beers and has added to its value as a brand. However, one weakness of this advertising strategy is that it does not reflect or demonstrate if the beer tastes good in any way shape or form.

This advertisement does a great job of appealing to the target audience because of the scenery and the humor within the ad. The commercial has many good looking people, which automatically catches one’s attention, along with a short humorous story line that people can easily follow. On an individual note, I love this advertisement because the ad makes me want to go to an exotic beach and drink Corona; a powerful result from a commercial.
